Don Russell, President

Don Russell is the President and founder of SALT Associates. Don combines strategic thinking with diverse disability expertise to help customers find the best solutions. He has broad experience with employers, insurance companies, reinsurance companies and absence management firms. He has held significant positions in group disability underwriting, product development, disability and absence management claims, operations and senior management. He is technical, analytical and has the unique ability to communicate his reasoning, rationale and solutions in a practical manner. Don founded SALT on the simple premise that clients deserve better options and solutions from people who have hands-on experience in and truly know the disability and absence management business.

Don has over 20 years of experience with companies like UNUM, Smith Group and CORE, Inc. is past President of the Group Underwriters Association of America (GUAA), a member of GUAA Disability Committee, a member of the Society of Human Resource Managers, President for Foundation 51, an educational foundation, and President of the Maine Chapter of the Coastal Conservation Association.

Jeff Verrill, Executive Vice President

SALT Associates Executive Vice President and Principal, Jeff Verrill has been in the brokerage, consulting and third party administration/absence management businesses for nearly 25 years as an Account Executive, a Director of Sales and a Managing Director. His tenure with global risk management brokerage and consulting firms and management of a national absence management firm provide him with a customer-centric perspective. His creative but disciplined approach to new and existing client relationships provides SALT perfect balance.

Jeff brings the ability to assemble and package his own ideas with Don’s technical acumen. Jeff has had experience with companies such as Marsh, Johnson & Higgins and CORE/WorkAbility. Jeff is a member of the Greater Boston DMEC Chapter, Board Member of the Coastal Conservation Association of Maine and member of the National Spinal Cord Injury Association.
